My work focuses on finance, economics and enterprise for good. I've bridged the worlds of charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations and ethical, inclusive financial services and social investment.
Experience includes social investment with Charity Bank; SI research and evaluation for the Charity Commission, Access social investment foundation, and Barrow Cadbury; financial inclusion and merger work with credit unions for Fair4All Finance; and CSE entrepreneurship and resilience for Arts & Business NI and DTNI. I’m currently working on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion research in social investment.
With EP, I’ve enjoyed working with North East Credit Unions on potential mergers. I’m interested in opportunities to reform the flow of finance and support to charities, social enterprises and communities.
Key Projects:
Reach Fund Evaluation (2021) for Access, the Foundation for Social Investment
Evaluation of grant programme to help CSEs pay for support to develop social investment propositions, which resulted in the extension of the scheme and a significant increase in the budget.
Learning & Evaluation Partner for Barrow Cadbury, Connect Fund
Barrow Cadbury’s Connect Fund was set up to strengthen the social investment market in England to better meet the needs of charities and social enterprises. I provide learning and evaluation support for Phase 1 of the Fund, helping with the development of the Theory of Change, data collection, impact report, learning and a State of the Sector report (in preparation).
Blueprint 5 year financial growth and resilience programme for small-medium arts organisations in NI
Based on research into social investment in the arts sector, we designed a unique capitalisation programme, supported fundraising of £5m from English trusts & NI funders and continue to support delivery.
