I am a senior generalist who has been involved at management level in the social sector for over 20 years helping to build capacity and impact. The last eight years have been spent working as a consultant in a strategic and advisory capacity and blending that with periods as an executive level interim.
My career started in brand strategy and communications at leading commercial agencies, working on the development and implementation of change programmes. In 2006, I shifted to the charity sector, where I was Director of Business Development and Partnerships at Tomorrow’s People, then Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Norwood.
Since 2018 I’ve supported over 40 charities and social enterprises on a wide range of assignments - from development and income generation to communications and culture, from leadership coaching to governance and impact. It’s this broad experience which has given me a strong platform to take on fixed term contracts as an interim Director or CEO at several not-for-profits.
I take a practical, strengths-based approach to help organisations navigate operational challenges and drive change. I work with senior teams to simplify the process of transition and build the strategies needed to take the organisation to the next stage. My focus is always on building skills and confidence internally and empowering teams to create a strong platform for sustainability and growth.
Key Projects:
Interim CEO, Timewise
Timewise is a social enterprise focused on flexible working and job design. The company’s commercial arm works with many of the UK’s leading employers, while its social impact business works with industry bodies and policy makers to drive wider change in the world of work. My role was to lead Timewise through a process of transition – which included a strategic review and the closure of one of the operating divisions – and lead day-to-day operations.
Business Advisory and Development, Home-Start UK
Brought in originally to support the federated network of 180 members on a wide range of projects – from funding and diversifying income to organisational restructuring, to negotiating with local authorities. Every Home-Start is an independent, self-funding charity, facing unique local issues. To date I have supported 25+ local organisations with turnovers between £100k to £4.5m.
Strategy Consultant and executive coach, MIND Bedfordshire
Initially brought in to facilitate Board Away Day, then following rapid expansion post Covid, worked with the CEO and leadership team on a range of strategic initiatives to support the organisation as it managed wide-ranging structural changes. Also delivered coaching programme for Operations Director.
