Who are Leeds Children’s Charity?
Leeds Children’s Charity commits to supporting children from the most deprived areas of our city. They are children who often face significant barriers to opportunity, wellbeing and inclusion.
Since 1904, we continue to focus on those who would otherwise miss out on the chance to play in a safe environment. Our work gives them the chance to play and grow in inspiring outdoor spaces.
With our services based at Lineham Farm, children enjoy respite, adventure and healing through nature.

You’ll be joining our Board at a pivotal and energising moment for Leeds Children’s Charity! Our charity has extraordinary impact every day, and it would be great for you to be a part of that.
As Chair; your senior-leadership experience will be greatly valued. We’ll trust your sound judgement in ensuring our mission and values remain our priority. You’ll also act as an ambassador for our charity, as you represent us to stakeholders and our partners.
Your role will see you supporting trustee development, while leading in strategic decision-making. Your governance skills will strengthen our life‑changing work for the next generation.
Being a Chair is a great way to enhance your skills, learn from others and support a worthy cause. You’ll lead our Board, while also working flexibly around your other commitments.
Your leadership will make a visible, lasting difference at a time when positive change is not only possible, but already underway.
What do Leeds Children’s Charity look for in our Chair?
Strong leadership and commitment to our mission and values is what we look for in our Chair. You’ll have the ability to encourage diverse perspectives and also manage constructive challenge.
We are particularly looking for someone with:
- A clear understanding of good governance or the ability to develop this quickly
- The ability to build consensus with the credibility and confidence to chair a board
- Excellent communication with the ability to listen well and influence thoughtfully
