Independent Non-Executive Director opportunity at Gloucestershire County Football Association

Can you bring commercial insight, fresh perspective and constructive challenge to support the future of grassroots football across Gloucestershire? Do you share our belief that football can strengthen communities and create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds? If so, you could be our new Independent Non-Executive Director at Gloucestershire FA.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your professional experience to make a genuine community impact. You will help us think strategically about income generation, partnerships and external relationships, while supporting strong governance and good decision-making.

We are looking for someone with commercial, business development, sponsorship, partnerships or income generation experience, and the confidence to help us explore new opportunities in a practical and collaborative way.

So, if you can bring local understanding, sound judgement and a genuine interest in grassroots football, we are keen to hear from you.

Who are Gloucestershire County Football Association?

Gloucestershire FA is the governing body for grassroots football across Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and most of Bristol. We help people play, coach, referee, volunteer and enjoy football in their local communities.

Our Board provides strategic leadership and governance for the Association. It oversees our strategy, operational plans, policies and the financial investment needed to support the long-term future of grassroots football across the county.

We believe football can strengthen communities, inspire participation and create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our staff, volunteers and Board all play a part in making the game more inclusive, accessible and sustainable.

What matters to Gloucestershire County Football Association?

We are focused on improving playing opportunities, growing women’s and girls’ football, improving facilities, tackling poor behaviour, developing coaches, referees and volunteers, and diversifying our business.

We are ambitious for football across the county, but we also need to be financially sustainable and well governed. We want to develop new income streams, make better use of our facilities and local relationships, and build stronger commercial partnerships.

If you join us at Gloucestershire Football County Association…

You will help shape the future of grassroots football across Gloucestershire, bringing commercial insight and local understanding to our Board.

This is a chance to use your professional experience to make a real community impact. You will help us think strategically about income generation, partnerships and external relationships, while supporting strong governance and good decision-making.

You will join a committed, collaborative Board and work alongside people who care deeply about the role football plays in local communities. If you can ask good questions, build relationships and bring a practical, open and constructive approach, we would love to hear from you.

Don’t think you quite meet all the specifications? Please don’t count yourself out. We’d still love to learn more about your interest in joining Gloucestershire FA!

If you would like a call to discuss any of the roles in more detail, please email John Sanger to arrange a convenient time at [email protected]. Having a call of this kind will not influence the success or otherwise of your application.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential. If you have a disability or require reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please contact us so we can support you appropriately.
