After starting in the commercial sector, I moved to the third sector in 2001. I work with organisations who are looking strategically at their organisations: wanting to transform, needing to turnaround or to grow, including through merger and acquisition. I specialise in boards and governance, strategy, programme management and operations.
I have carried out both executive and non-executive director roles.
Options appraisal and then Turnaround, for a small mental health charity
I worked with both the board and staff team to assess the strategic opportunity and options which included closure, merger and turnaround. After the board decided to rebuild, I worked, as Interim CEO, to stabilise the board, staff and services, develop a 3 year strategy and support the recruitment of a permanent CEO.
Merger of four small to medium mental health charities
As Interim CEO I worked with the boards and staff teams of two of the four charities and, on the merger steering group, supported the merger from start to finish. I created the merger programme plan for the newly merged organisation, including developing the TUPE approach and began the implementation work until the new CEO was recruited.
Board strategy workshops
I developed and facilitated Board workshops to develop long term strategy and understand the process, feasibility, benefits and strategic decision making process on mergers.
