Trustee Opportunity at Citizens Advice SORT Group

Looking for a chance to join a values-led organisation and share your skills?

You could be the person we’re looking for to join us as a new Trustee at Citizen’s Advice SORT group! This is a great opportunity to bring good judgement and curiosity to our charity Board.

Do you have lived experience or community insight that sparks a desire to give back? Or maybe you have perspectives that can help broaden our Board. If you also have a collaborative approach to match your strategic thinking, we’d love to hear from you!

Who are Citizens Advice SORT Group?

We are the Citizens Advice SORT group, the parent company of the Citizens Advice service. Our charity’s experienced staff support communities in Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale and Trafford.

Our advice is free for everyone on their rights and responsibilities. The advice that we provide is also independent, confidential and impartial for all.

With the help of fantastic and knowledgeable volunteers, we deliver commissioned services locally. Our network consists of 270 local Citizens Advice organisations across England and Wales.

What matters to Citizens Advice SORT Group?

Our commitment remains clear: to ensure people have the advice and confidence they need to find their way forward. We continue playing our part in shaping a society in which people face far fewer problems.

Our trusted brand and the quality of our research mean we make a real impact on behalf of the people who rely on us. Every year, tens of thousands of people turn to us. This gives us a unique insight into their needs and concerns. We use this knowledge to campaign on big issues, both locally and nationally.

If you join us at Citizens Advice SORT Group…

You’ll be a part of a team broadening the range of backgrounds, perspectives and lived experience represented on its board.

We are also entering an important new phase. Having grown through merger and collaboration, we’ve developed a stronger regional role. This growth brings real opportunity. It also brings more complexity. We are looking for people who are comfortable with change and able to contribute to good collective decision-making.

You do not need to have been a trustee before. What matters is that you bring sound judgement, curiosity, commitment and the ability to work well with others.

Joining us means supporting a charity with a trusted local presence and a growing regional voice. As a trustee, you will help guide an organisation that makes a practical difference to thousands of people.

Please make sure you read our Candidate Information Pack before applying. It contains important details about the role and our organisation.

Don’t think you quite meet all the specifications? Please don’t count yourself out. We’d still love to learn more about your interest in joining Citizens Advice SORT Group!

If you have specific questions about the role or the application process, please contact John Sanger, [email protected] to arrange a call. Having a call of this kind will not influence the success or otherwise of your application.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential. If you have a disability or require reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please contact us so we can support you appropriately.
