Treasurer Opportunity at Merton Connected

Do you have finance skills that could support organisations in our community to thrive as they grow? Then you could be the person that we are looking for to join us as our new Treasurer, here at Merton Connected!

This is an opportunity to guide our next development stage by joining our Board of Trustees at what is a pivotal point in our journey. Driven by our vision of a connected, supported, and empowered borough, a new Treasurer is crucial to our mission.

As well as financial expertise; if you are also passionate about helping residents and the voluntary sector in our borough to find meaningful opportunities, we’d love to hear from you.

Who are Merton Connected?

Merton Connected strengthens the voluntary, community and faith sector and supports residents across the borough. We provide advice, training and development that help organisations build strong governance, diversify income and plan for long-term sustainability.

We promote volunteering across Merton, helping residents find meaningful opportunities to contribute while supporting organisations to recruit and develop volunteers.

What matters to Merton Connected?

We connect, support and champion Merton’s communities to build resilience, inclusion and lasting change through our values:

Empowering – We support communities and organisations to build the confidence, skills and resources they need to thrive.

Collaborative – We bring people, organisations and partners together to share learning, build relationships and develop solutions to local challenges.

Inclusive – We work to ensure all communities in Merton are heard, represented and able to take part in shaping the borough’s future.

If you join us at Merton Connected…

Becoming a trustee is a rewarding way to contribute to the voluntary sector and support communities locally.

You’ll be joining a charity that is committed to strengthening partnerships to encourage Merton to flourish. You’ll work collaboratively with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, offering support, oversight and constructive challenge where needed.

As Treasurer; you will chair the Finance Committee, reporting back to the Board on financial health and risk. The Board will look to you for support in understanding the organisation’s financial position, resilience and future outlook.

Trusteeship offers the opportunity to use your professional skills in a different context, contribute to an organisation with a clear social purpose and gain valuable strategic experience.

Please make sure you read our Candidate Information Pack before applying. It contains important details about the role and our organisation.

Don’t think you quite meet all the specifications? Please don’t count yourself out. We’d still love to learn more about your interest in joining Merton Connected!

If you have specific questions about the role or the application process, please contact John Sanger, [email protected] to arrange a call. Having a call of this kind will not influence the success or otherwise of your application.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential. If you have a disability or require reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please contact us so we can support you appropriately.
