Charity Group Structures Roundtable on Wednesday 23 September, 9.30am-10.30am.

Charity group structures are becoming an increasingly important option for organisations looking to achieve greater impact, retain their identity, strengthen collaboration, or respond to a changing operating environment. This roundtable will explore the strategic, governance and legal considerations involved in developing and managing group structures, drawing on practical experience from sector leaders who have successfully navigated this journey.

Attendees at this interactive session will also have the opportunity to hear first-hand experiences, discuss current challenges and connect with peers who are considering or operating within charity group structures.

We are pleased to be joined by two exceptional speakers:

Dame Carol Homden DBE, Chief Executive, Coram

Dame Carol Homden DBE has led Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity, since 2007, overseeing its growth into a group of specialist charities supporting children, young people and families through services, research, advocacy and legal support.

A highly respected leader within the charity sector, Carol has previously held senior roles in higher education, the British Museum and The Prince’s Trust, bringing together commercial, strategic and social impact expertise. She has also served as Chair of the National Autistic Society and Chair of Diabetes UK.

Carol was awarded a CBE in 2013 and was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2026 for services to children and families. At the roundtable, she will share Coram’s experience of developing and leading a successful charity group structure, providing practical insights into the opportunities, challenges and lessons learned along the way.

Gareth Roy, Partner, Charity Law & Governance Team, Wilsons Solicitors LLP

Gareth advises charities and not-for-profit organisations on a wide range of governance and commercial matters, including mergers, collaborations, incorporations, restructures, trading subsidiaries and engagement with the Charity Commission.

With extensive experience supporting organisations ranging from local community charities to major national institutions, Gareth is known for providing pragmatic and strategic advice on complex organisational change. During the roundtable, Gareth will share legal and governance perspectives on charity group structures, exploring the opportunities, risks and practical considerations that boards should consider when evaluating different organisational models.

Join us to explore the strategic, governance and legal considerations involved in developing and managing charity group structures.
