Why Eastside People?

Eastside People provides specialist charity interim management services to charities and social enterprises.

Our team of charity recruitment specialists has placed 170 interim managers into senior leadership, change management, and project management roles within not-for-profits across the UK.

Our clients rate our service highly, scoring both the quality of our interim candidates and the quality of their relationship with us at 9.5/10.

Why Interim Management for a charity or not-for-profit organisation?

  • A fast and reliable way to source highly experienced and specialised executives (for example during a time of change when additional resource is needed or to fill a leadership gap due to an extended illness or someone leaving unexpectedly)
  • You gain a wealth of knowledge and expertise to tackle a problem where there is no suitable professional resource in-house
  • A new and objective point of view
  • Interim managers can concentrate on the job in hand, as they won’t be distracted by day-to-day issues and office politics
  • The long-lasting value of skills learnt – a good interim manager will ensure an effective transfer of skills to your team
  • There are no hidden costs – you only pay for the days an interim manager works, so this can be a cost-effective way of accessing experienced, high-calibre professionals who deliver a flexible recruitment option.

What can EP Help You With?

We have a substantial record of appointing to leadership and change management roles on an interim basis. Via our extensive networks of experienced and proven leaders across the UK, we can provide interim expertise within just a few days, covering the full spectrum of senior interim resource needs.

As well as traditional uses for interim – such as filling a gap in recruitment whilst you wait for a new member of the senior management team to start, covering maternity/paternity leave, or covering for sabbaticals or long-term sickness absence – you may also consider bringing in an interim manager to:

  • Manage a period of change in your organisation
  • Bring in new skills, experience or expertise on a flexible, short term basis
  • Get a new project or idea off the ground
  • Tender for a contract, write a bid or implement a new contract quickly
  • Manage a re-organisation or restructure
  • Project manage a merger or partnership.

Bernice Rook, Director of People

We have found a wide variety of interim solutions for charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profits and pride ourselves on using our unique eye for talent and matching skills, our understanding of the social sector and our determination to find the right interim solution for your organisation.

Recent interim roles filled include:

  1. Interim CEO for Rochdale & District Mind – We were able to source a talented interim CEO with strong change management and people management skills to support Rochdale & District Mind through a period of transition and to boost their readiness to recruit a permanent CEO
  2. Interim Finance Director for Recovery Focus – Recovery Focus (Richmond Fellowship) were gearing up to merge with Humankind to form a single charity to better support people facing multiple disadvantage.  The Director of Finance at Recovery Focus was acting as interim CEO during the 6 months running up to the merger and during the transition period, which left a requirement for an interim FD who could take the pressure off during this busy time by being a safe pair of hands and an excellent communicator, who could focus on the day to day and support the team
  3. Interim Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Scottish Ensemble – The Scottish Ensemble was going through a period of change due to a number of staff changes, including the CEO leaving.  In order to fill the gaps they did some internal restructuring and asked us to help them recruit an interim COO with a breadth of skills who could work on a flexible part time basis
  4. Interim funding & communications (maternity cover) manager for Zarach
  5. Service manager at Rochdale & District Mind (filled within 1 week)
  6. Interim Charity Manager at Bolton Destitute Animals Shelter.
