I am a business consultant with over 20 years’ consulting experience, with a particular interest in working with smaller (<£1m turnover) charities and social enterprises to improve their sustainability, investment readiness and effectiveness.
My earlier career as head of R&D corporate communications in the international telecoms industry, coupled with assignments in the Public and Private sectors and current trustee leadership roles with charities and a consortium, give me a rounded experience and insight that has proved valuable when working with clients.
A consultant with EP since 2012, I have delivered projects for charities whose causes are as diverse as health and social care, infrastructure, young people, and the arts.
Key Projects:
Sustainability support for a consortium of fifteen small London-based charities
Led a team of EP consultants to determine a better operating model for the charities to work together. Developed a variety of solutions, including merger options. Our recommended new governance model and variable service offer have since been successfully adopted.
Improved access to commissioning in the criminal justice sector, five micro NFPs operating with ethnic minority communities in West Midlands
Each organisation had very different challenges and barriers to progress. Support included governance, financial management, strategy, business planning, and funding applications. Every organisation reported improved understanding and confidence to develop.
Organisational strengths review for a youth services CIC in Surrey
Diagnostic, staff consultations, document review, and desk research led to a comprehensive set of recommendations including legal entity rationalisation; governance and internal structuring reform; strategic planning based on impact and theories of change; and marketing communications planning.
