David Chenery Eastside People Member consultant

David Chenery

Consultant

I am a finance and accounting professional with experience in senior roles in an International as well as a UK environment. I spent many years working in the shipping and logistics industry before moving to the charity sector both as a volunteer and a consultant. My principal volunteering experience has been as treasurer and subsequently chair of an advice charity based in a area of significant deprivation. My consulting experience ranges widely across the not for profit sector. I can offer experience based on a rigorous commercial background as well as a sympathetic view of the challenging funding environment of the not for profit sector.

Key Projects:

Reporting and Processes Study, Help Musicians UK providing educational and welfare support across all music genres

A critique of financial reporting and accounting processes with recommendations for improvements aimed at key performance areas for the organisation and individuals rather than purely historic accounting data.

Pricing model, Harrogate Easy Living Project provides welfare advice and support to the community

Development of a spreadsheet-based pricing model covering gardening and decorating services manned by a combination of fulltime and volunteer staff. The model supported the projection of varying pricing levels and indicated likely surplus/deficit outcomes.

Investment Readiness Financial Review, Early education and child care in a deprived area with complimentary services for families experiencing short term financial crisis.

The review included confirmation of the robustness of current financial processes and recommendations to improve visibility of financial and operational performance for the trustees and key stakeholders. Other recommendations included wider involvement of staff in the budgetary process and subsequent review of outcomes.
