I have over twenty years’ experience in the leadership and management of charities, in a variety of senior roles, as a trustee, and as a consultant. My background is in financial management, but I have a broad range of skills, including governance, risk management, strategy development, business development, writing bids, developing theories of change and outcome measurement frameworks, and managing change. On the financial side, I specialise in building models for budgeting and forecasting, and developing systems to improve financial control. This includes implementing accounting software, developing coding systems, creating reporting tools and training staff. Many auditors have commented that the systems I have set up are easy to audit. I have worked in both socially and environmentally focused organisations.

Key Projects:

Interim financial manager, local carer support charity

Took over financial management. Developed and implemented a forecasting tool to enable monthly budgeting for the organisation and over twenty restricted funds. Prepared for audit. Trained up new finance manager.

Restructure of adult services, local carer support charity (a different one!)

Waiting lists for adult services exceeded three months. Developed triage process with baseline assessment, and review assessment process. Restructured team. Developed improved outcome reporting. Waiting list reduced to 48 hours.

Strategic development manager maternity cover, large national health condition charity

Devising and embedding new systems for strategic planning. Part of specialist teams involved in a rebranding project and theory of change development. Oversaw grants programme for medical research.
